Training I started my ceramic career as an apprentice to Gunnar Nylund, a ceramic designer and sculptor. I recieved my formal ceramic training in England at the North Staffordshire Polytechnic, Stoke-on-Trent (71-75) and in the US at MIT, Boston and Rutgers Univesity, New Brunswick (77-79). I worked in the laboratory and studiodepartments of Rörstrand Ltd, the largest Scandinavian tableware-manufacturer for ten years before I set up my own studio with Suzanne Öhlén in 1986. Most of my work is wood-fired/saltglazed stoneware; utilitarian ware, tiles for floors, walls and murals but also sculptural work. Take on consultancy jobs as teaching, course-administrator and leader, text-book writing, etc to make ends meet; both economically and socially.
I´m a member of a number of professional institutions and cooperatives; Lerverk (a craft-potters cooperative in Gothenburg), Center for Art & Craft in Stockholm, The Swedish Ceramic Society. |
